Brand Identity Designer
Role & Responsibilities
- Visual Identity Creation: Lead the design of brand identities from the ground up for deep tech startups. This means developing original logo concepts, wordmarks, symbol systems, typographic pairings, color palettes, and the broader visual language that ties it all together. The ability to generate multiple distinct creative directions from a single brief, and to push concepts beyond the obvious, is core to this role.
- Brand System Development: Translate your identity concepts into comprehensive, production-ready brand systems. This includes building brand guidelines, usage documentation, asset libraries, and Figma component libraries that give clients everything they need to maintain consistency as they grow. You'll define the rules of the brand — not just design a logo, but architect the full visual language around it.
- Presentations & Pitch Decks Apply new brand identities to high-impact presentations and pitch decks for investor meetings, sales conversations, and partnership pitches. This is often one of the first places a new brand lives in the wild, so your ability to extend an identity you've just built matters enormously.
- Collaboration & Iteration: Work closely with HAUS' creative directors throughout the identity development process, from early concept exploration through to final delivery. You'll present multiple creative directions, incorporate feedback, and refine concepts without losing the thread. In our fast-paced sprint environment, strong creative instincts and the ability to iterate quickly are equally important.
- Production & Quality Control Prepare and finalize all identity files with precision (e.g., logos in every required format, color-correct files for both screen and print, and fully organized Figma libraries ready for client handoff). Conduct thorough quality checks across all deliverables to ensure files are production-ready, technically sound, and consistent with the guidelines you've defined.
- Brand Consistency & Asset Management: Act as a guardian of the brand identity for each client. Maintain design systems and reusable components in Figma, and create template assets (like social post formats, icon sets, presentation slide masters, etc.) to ensure a consistent visual language across all touchpoints. You'll help manage the use of logos, fonts, and styles so that everything from a banner ad to a social media post feels recognizable and on-brand.
Requirements
- Passion for Deep Tech: You must love deep tech and be genuinely excited by cutting-edge technologies.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field. At least 2-3 years of brand design experience in an agency or in-house setting. We welcome strong internship experience and portfolio work, what matters most is your demonstrated skill and passion.
- Design Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop) is required. Experience building prototypes or working with design systems in Figma is a plus. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign for layout or print projects is helpful. Motion experience with Adobe After Effects is a plus.
- Typography & Layout Excellence: Must have exceptional typographic skills and a keen eye for detail in layouts. You understand hierarchy, white space, and typesetting nuances, and you can design content that is both visually striking and highly legible. (We'll look for evidence of strong layout, color, and typography work in your portfolio)
- Branding Knowledge: Solid understanding of branding and visual identity fundamentals. Experience developing or working with brand guidelines and applying them consistently across digital and print media is expected. You should be able to adapt your style to fit different brand aesthetics while maintaining coherence.
- Attention to Detail & Organization: Highly organized and able to manage multiple design projects at once without sacrificing quality. You can juggle deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a high level of attention to detail on each deliverable. Strong file management and version control habits are essential.
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills - you can clearly articulate design decisions and are receptive to feedback. Since our team is distributed, you need to be comfortable working in a remote environment, collaborating via Slack/Zoom, and proactively communicating status updates. Being a team player is crucial; we value positive attitudes and the ability to work constructively with colleagues across time zones.
- Tech Savvy & Curiosity: A genuine passion for technology and innovation is important. Our clients are building world-changing tech, so an eagerness to understand subjects like AI, robotics, biotech, aerospace, etc., will help you create more informed and inspired designs. Curiosity and willingness to continually learn (about new design tools as well as new scientific domains) will set you up for success.
Preferences
- Motion design capabilities are a big plus. For example, basic knowledge of Adobe After Effects to create simple animations or animated GIFs.
- Any experience with 3D elements (Cinema 4D, Blender) is welcome but not required.
- Overall, an "extra gear" in areas like illustration, animation, or interactive design will help your work stand out (we love multi-talented creatives!).
